- PRESS RELEASE
The last CSR Al Youm newsletter of 2012, published by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Centre for Responsible Business, focuses on the concept of Stakeholder Engagement Management and the benefits of engaging and communicating with stakeholders as essential elements of a company's CSR journey.
The newsletter also provides tips on how to develop a stakeholder engagement strategy and to make it meaningful for a company while helping it increase mutual respect and understanding, how to address stakeholders' expectations and also the ways to manage risks and opportunities when dealing with them.
To initiate and sustain constructive and cost-effective stakeholder relationship, the newsletter enlisted five steps which are to develop a strategy, map stakeholders, prepare for the engagement, engage stakeholders and establish action plans.
Summing up the year for CRB activities, the newsletter informs that during 2012, the Centre ran 43 events assisting over 1,300 business delegates on CSR and Governance, while continuing to deepen its relationship with the business community, driving forward CSR management and implementation in companies through the newly established Sustainability Network which grew from four members in 2010 to 35 in 2012, and the CSR Label which was awarded to 30 companies.
It also looks at major events hosted by the Centre during the year including the Dubai Dialogue Corporate Governance Conference, Be Responsible - Rethink Waste Campaign and Conference held in association with Dubai Municipality and a workshop on Integrated Reporting as well as the last Dubai Chamber CSR Label ceremony of the year.
The newsletter also covers ENGAGE Dubai Workshop and Fair raising awareness about employee volunteering and community engagement as well as the releasing of various publications including the Sustainability Network's Demonstrating Responsible Business Practices in the UAE, Employee Volunteering Management guidebook, Case Studies of Community Investments in the UAE, and guides on How To Build Partnerships, and Develop Community Investment Strategy.
The Centre for Responsible Business was established in 2004 by Dubai Chamber to foster corporate integrity and to promote Dubai as the region's gateway for global commerce by promoting transparency and rule of law. It is the leading centre of expertise in business ethics and corporate social responsibility in Dubai.
