Dar Al Shifa Hospital joins KidZania Kuwait

KidZania Kuwait, the family entertainment park which will be operated by M.H. Alshaya Co., has signed an agreement with Dar Al-Shifa for sponsorship of the Hospital establishment in the park. This new partnership will teach children about different medical occupations in a fun and interactive setting.

Dar Al Shifa, established in 1963 as the first private hospital in Kuwait, is known for its commitment to excellence in healthcare and is the most recent marketing partner to join the highly awaited children's city. It will have a two-storey establishment which will replicate the active environment of a hospital and will consist of an emergency room, two operating rooms and a nursery.

Children will be able to role-play a number of exciting and stimulating roles, such as a paramedic, surgeon, nurse or patient. In addition they will learn how to review a patient's record chart, anesthetize and make incisions on dummy patients, as well as explore real images of internal organs and operate through video technology. To fully immerse children in a realistic medical environment, the establishment will incorporate hi-tech equipment including a vital signs monitor, artificial lungs, a defibrillator and laparoscopy equipment. Additionally, Dar Al Shifa will provide an electric ambulance to transport children role-playing as injured patients to the emergency room, where they will be attended to by a young paramedic.

"Dar Al Shifa Hospital recognizes the great value KidZania Kuwait will bring to future generations through a unique experiential platform, and so we are honored to take part in this one-of-a-kind endeavor," said Bader Jeraq, Deputy General Manager of Dar Al Shifa Hospital.

He added: "By working at a child's sized replica of Dar Al Shifa Hospital, children will gain an understanding of the day to day activities in hospitals, and the importance of healthcare institutions to society. We look forward to helping children understand the value of healthcare workers in the community and the part they play in keeping people fit and healthy."

Commenting on the partnership, Fernando Medroa, the Vice President of Leisure & Entertainment at M.H. Alshaya Co., said: "The sponsorship of the Hospital establishment by Dar Al Shifa is an excellent addition to our offer at KidZania Kuwait, and will help children to understand and experience all the roles and activities that take place in a busy hospital. As a leading, private hospital in Kuwait, Dar Al-Shifa perfectly complements our child-sized city which already includes a bank, telecommunications center, dental clinic and a university."

Children will be able to enjoy Dar Al Shifa's hospital establishment activities and bring their imagination to life at KidZania Kuwait later this year at the new extension of The Avenues.
