DED celebrates 41st UAE National Day with traditional flavour and festivities

The celebrations were part of extending DED's greetings to Their Highnesses Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi; Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; Members of the UAE Supreme Council and Rulers of the other emirates as well as the people of the UAE on the occasion of the National Day.

Organised by DED's National Identity team, the celebrations included planting a tree in front of the Business Village in line with the Union Tree initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

A mini heritage village, traditional souq, and local troupes singing the UAE National Anthem as well as historic songs were part of the celebrations.

There was also a quiz competition for DED employees to test their knowledge on the UAE and its history.

Students from different government and private schools and a group of people with special needs also joined in the celebrations, presenting various traditional shows. The kiosk set up as part of the celebrations also had students from the University of Sharjah selling traditional goods.

"DED is honoured to join in the celebratory atmosphere that prevails across our nation. The UAE National Day celebrations reiterate the importance of being united in thought and in our commitment to the socio-economic growth of the nation. Through these celebrations, DED aims to highlight our solidarity and achievements, strengthen community relations, and further enhance awareness of the UAE's rich cultural heritage," said Al Qamzi,

"The 2nd of December reflects the love of the UAE people to the nation and their determination to carry on the development process to the future. The National Day celebrations also reflect the unity among UAE nationals and their loyalty to our wise leadership who seeks to further cement our distinguished and prominent place on the regional and global levels," added Al Qamzi.

"The DED's National Identity team is dedicated to organising innovative programmes to enrich the concept of national identity across various social and national platforms. Hosting at least 12 activities in celebration of the National Day reflects the continuity of our efforts to strengthen national identity across the nation and among residents," said Nisrin Al Harmoudi, Director of Marketing & Communication, DED and head of the National Identity team.

Al Harmoudi noted, "The activities focused on the UAE's traditions and rich history with the objective of promoting the national march among employees and customers. The team presented scarves depicting the UAE flag to DED customers as a mark of joy and inviting all citizens and residents to join in the celebrations."
