DED, EEG sign partnership to manage recyclable paper waste

The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai has signed an agreement with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) to manage and recycle paper waste in DED branches. The initiative is part of DED's corporate social responsibility and commitment to protecting the environment.
Omar Khalifa Al Thani, Director - Administration Affairs, Shared Services Sector at DED, said: "Today, governments and organisations are committed to sustainable development measures and environmental programmes to meet the global challenge of climate change and environmental sustainability. Our joint efforts with Emirates Environmental Group reiterate our commitment to preserving a clean environment for the overall well-being of the society."
He added: "The Department of Economic Development believes we have a responsibility to lead by example in the responsible use of resources to ensure the sustainable development of Dubai's economy. The DED is always looking for initiatives that help minimize waste and conserve vital resources."
Ms. Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson EEG, said: "The concept of environmental stewardship should be significantly rooted in the wider society and the role of the public sector institutions in this regard is very important as they are often depicted as role models for other institutional sectors. We at the EEG, applaud the Department of Economic Development in Dubai for fully embracing its environmental responsibility. With this we warmly welcome DED into the EEG family. The DED is renowned to be an active that seek to reduce their environmental footprint. It underscores their commitment to the sustainability vision of our leaders and demonstrates their support toward national sustainable development strategies."
Emirates Environmental Group will collect the recyclable paper waste from DED's branches regularly as well as weigh the collected waste and send a detailed monthly report to DED for each of its branches.
