  • USA: Saturday, November 17 - 2012 at 00:42

Dell Inc. has announced its third-quarter profit fell 47%, hurt by lower PC sales, weaker demand from large corporations and the shift to mobile computing, Reuters has reported. The firm posted net income of $475m in the quarter, compared with $893m a year earlier. The world's third-largest personal computer maker warned that it "sees the challenging global macroeconomic environment continuing in the fourth quarter." However, Dell said it expects revenue to grow as much as 5% in the current quarter. "Our outlook for the quarter would be generally consistent with what we typically see in terms of a seasonal pickup," it said.
