Dentistary Department of Rumailla Hospital organizes 1st Qatar Orthodontics Congress

Dentistary Department of Rumailla Hospital (RH), member of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), organizes during the period 04-07 Jan. 2013 the 1st Qatar Orthodontics Congress. The Congress which shall be held at Ritz Carlton Hotel/ Doha will be attended by internationally renowned specialists, in orthodontics, from GB, USA, Germany, GCC as well as specialists from other countries.

This Congress, The first of its kind to be organized in the Gulf and the Middle East, aims at shedding the lights on the latest technologies and practices currently adopted in orthodontics and how to be harnessed in Qatar State within the new Academic Health System (AHS), recently introduced at HMC.

Papers and researches, to be presented in the congress, shall also tackle evidence-based-practices that contribute in realizing the main objective targeting the promotion of dentistry profession in general and orthodontics in particular to the best and world-class standards.

Dr. Najat Al-Saied, Head of Orthodontics Section at HMC and Chairperson of 1st Qatar Orthodontics Congress, said, "The importance of this Congress emanates from the fact that it is the first time to organize such a high level orthodontics congress in the Gulf and the Middle East."

underlining that: "A medical dentistry and orthodontics specialized exhibition shall be organized on the sidelines of the congress, whereas the latest medical equipment technologies shall be showcased by local and international companies."

Dr. Al-Sayed emphasized, "The scientific committee invited several experts and researchers specialized in the field to deliver lectures and update doctors in Qatar and the Gulf with the latest developments and best practices in the field of orthodontics. She further pointed out that the congress comes as part of the ongoing drive to enhance the performance of the medical staff and improve the dental care provided to orthodontic patients in Qatar and the region. The scientific and healthcare system being sustained in Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Qatar is expected to be one of the most important tools to encounter regional and global challenges in the field of orthodontics."

On the other hand, Dr. Shaima Abdul Rahman, Consultant Orthodontist at HMC and head of the scientific committee of the congress spotlighted the scientific and practical feasibility of this congress.

"Such specialized scientific conferences highlight various theoretical and practical diagnostic and therapeutic methods designed to upgrade the clinical performance of orthodontists in particular and dentists at large," Dr. Abdul Rahman said.

Adding that, "State-of-the-art workshops will be held to train Orthodontists on the new technologies that are hoped to improve the clinical quality and save time spent in orthodontics."

Emphasizing, "The support of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Oral and dental section and Medical Education Department have greatly contributed towards the successful organization of this congress."

Dr. Abdul Rahman further thanked a number of national corporations and companies for their patronage of the congress, aiming to make it a real success that attracts a large number of physicians and researchers from all over the region.
