Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) celebrated its fourth Health, Safety and Environment. The event featured several competitions on safety, general awareness on health, and the work environment, in addition to free blood tests for early detection for diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol.

"The 'Health, Safety & Environment Week' supports the strategic vision of Dubai to achieve the highest standards of safety and promote the health of the residents of Dubai by implementing best international practices and spreading awareness on the importance of maintaining a safe, healthy and sustainable work environment," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

"At DEWA, we implement the highest standards of safety and health, through the dedicated efforts of our staff and their continual commitment and efforts to achieve the highest international standards. We are committed to providing global standards in care and well-being for our staff," he added.

"We are all responsible for the continual development of the work environment, and DEWA organises the Health, Safety and Environment Week annually to increase staff awareness of a healthy work environment and to underline the importance of committing to safety to motivate our employees to achieve the best results at work," added Al Tayer.

"The Sword of Honour for Health and Safety that we received for the fifth time, and the Globe of Honour for Environment from the British Safety Council, are testament to our committed efforts to adhere to the highest standards of health, safety and environment. Today, DEWA's customers, staff, and contractors enjoy a safe work environment that reflects the success of our vision, mission and integrated administration system," added HE Al Tayer.

"This year's Health, Safety and Environment Week included various activities and contests for our staff. Led by our belief in the important and effective role of partnerships and promoting health awareness internally and externally, we invited the contractors of DEWA to participate in a special contest organised particularly for them," said Al Tayer.

"DEWA implements the highest international standards and best practices to protect our staff, customers and work environment from any concerns that might affect the health of employees or the safety of facilities and equipment. We continuously organise training programmes and awareness campaigns to prevent any work accidents or injuries enabling us to reduce wasted hours and strengthening organisational efficiency," said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support.

The 'Health, Safety and Environment Week' featured awareness programmes about the work environment and discussed ways for maintaining physical health, avoiding diseases and protecting the environment.
