DEWA hosts V94.3A Gas Turbine Users' Conference in Dubai

As part of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's (DEWA's) efforts to implement the highest levels of Availability, Efficiency and Reliability in its operations as part of its efforts to become a sustainable world-class utility, DEWA is hosting the V94.3A Gas Turbine Users' Conference at The Address Downtown hotel from 13th to 15th of November 2012.

Gas Turbine Users from around the world are attending this international three-day highly-interactive technical conference, where industry specialists will explore best practices and latest trends, showcase development plans and case studies and promote awareness of factors affecting safety, availability, reliability and efficiency.

"DEWA is hosting this conference, which accords with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to drive the energy sector towards a Green Economy by improving reliability, availability and efficiency," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA during his keynote speech.

"DEWA's vision is to be A Sustainable World-class utility and we have accomplished world-class achievements. For example, the Customer Minute Loss rate stands at 5.77 minutes, which is the lowest world-wide and our line loss for Transmission and Distribution stands at 3.49%, which is the lowest world-wide."

"Our world-class achievement in efficiency improvement at the production side stands at 25% compared to 2006. Moreover, we achieved the highest world-wide recognition in safety and environment by receiving the Sword of Honour and Globe of Honor in safety and environment respectively from the British Safety Council."

"I ask you to utilize this platform to benchmark, exchange knowledge and share best practices to improve reliability, availability and efficiency in order to ensure sustainable development in the energy sector," concluded Al Tayer.

"DEWA owns and operates 17 V94.3A Gas Turbines built by Siemens, which is the largest grouping in the world operated by a single team. These turbines play a critical role in meeting Dubai customers' demand for electricity and water. DEWA has been an active member of the users' network to promote sharing of knowledge and benchmarking needed to improve quality and optimize costs," said Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President for Generation at DEWA.
