DHA opens state-of-the-art retail centre at Rashid Hospital for Orthotics and Prosthetics

His Excellency Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority inaugurated today a state-of-the-art retail centre for orthotics and prosthetics, which is located in Rashid Hospital.
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of Professor Hans Bauerfeind, Owner and CEO of Bauerfeind Company, Karl Schmidt, General Manager, OTB, His Excellency Khalid Al Sheikh Mubarak, Deputy Director-General of the DHA and other senior members.
The state-of-the-art retail centre is spread over a surface area of 550 square meters and has on display high-quality products to assist those with special needs. The centre will provide all kind of prosthetics for those with amputations as well as various kinds of equipment to provide support to adults and children suffering from any kind of disability.
OTB has also set up a 200 square meter workshop within the premises of Rashid Hospital itself and they will provide 25 experienced healthcare professionals from Europe qualified in the field of orthotics and prosthetics, who will be based in Rashid Hospital.
Al Murooshid said: "The new centre and facilities provide patients that have any kind of disability with access to state-of-the-art treatment facilities as well as high-quality products including artificial limbs. The most important benefit is that now these products will be available locally at competitive prices, ensuring patients do not need to place an order abroad. This move will cut the waiting time, thus providing patients who suffer from any kind of disability with easy access to high quality treatment and care."
Shawqi Khoory, CEO of Rashid Hospital, said: "At the hospital, we have one of the biggest rehabilitation services in the Emirate and the set up of this store helps enhance the services we already offer. As healthcare providers, it is our aim to ensure patients get the best treatment locally and our agreement with OTB provides patients with convenience and ease of service."
The products available will benefit patients including those with upper and lower amputations, trauma and poly-trauma patients who suffer from any kind of injuries and need orthotic appliances to support their bodily function like walking etc, patients with spinal cord and brain injuries. Patients with such disabilities need long term care and support and this agreement benefits them in several ways.
In addition to His Excellency Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, Professor Hans Bauerfeind, CEO and Owner of Bauerfeind, Karl Schmidt, General Manager, OTB-MPC LLC, His Excellency Khalid Al Sheikh Mubarak, Deputy Director-General of the DHA, other senior members present during the inauguration included Dr Shawqi Khoory, CEO of Rashid Hospital, Dr Mohammad Al Olama, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the DHA, Gamal Naji, Director of Financial Services, Dr Yousuf Al Zarooni, Director of Purchasing and Contracts Department at the DHA, Dr. Suad Trebinjac, Head of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rashid Hospital and Ghanim Lootah, Head of Events section at the DHA.
