DM Architectural Heritage Dept. organizes lecture on waste minimization

Architectural Heritage Department at Dubai Municipality has organized a lecture programme targeting employees and school students on how to minimize waste generation, at Falcon Centre in Nad Al Sheba area.
While delivering the session, Hamda explained various initiatives Dubai Municipality has launched aiming at educating reduce-waste culture in the city, apart from enforcing rules and regulations.
"We are not only focusing on imposing laws, but also keen on educating public the culture of waste minimization," Hamada Al Murr said.
Various campaigns civic body has launched these days such as My City My Environment, Knowledge Park and Refurbish & Reuse Computers have boosted the efforts to keep Dubai a green city of global standards.
She further pointed, "To reduce overall generation of waste, efforts from individuals and families are must."
"Buy less is the basic idea to reduce waste. Every individual should develop the habit of thinking twice before entering market places. And when shopping, we should always be keen on selecting best alternatives that may help us minimize the risk of spoiling environment," she explained.
Debates,competitions, exhibition and workshops also were held as part of the event.
