As part of the campaigns, DM Healthcare has launched the first Mobile Medical Clinic in UAE. The mobile clinic known as "Dr Aster Mobile" was launched today in line with the Group's commitment to offer 'Care Beyond Boundaries' as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.
The mobile clinic is well-equipped to offer primary care and basic lab investigation. The vehicle will travel across the country to offer free primary medical care, wherever needed. The vehicle will also be used in educating people on road safety and emergency first-aid care.
The Mobile clinic was flagged off today by His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), at the Dubai Health Authorities premises.
HE Eng. Al Maidoor, said: "At the DHA, prevention and public outreach is an important part of our strategy and the public health department within the DHA works at all levels in society to raise awareness about a host of lifestyle disease and its prevention methods. We liaise with the private sector for such initiatives and this campaign is an example of such collaboration. Working with the private sector and other government entities towards the same goal, will only help provide further impetus to this campaign and broaden its reach.
"This initiative is special because we directly reach out to the community in their environment- whether it is at schools, universities or malls," he added.
In addition to this initiative, the Group also announced the launch of two important public health awareness campaigns which will be carried out with the support of the government entities.
The STRAP and BEAT campaigns were launched by senior officials of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Corporate for Ambulance Services (DCAS), in presence of Dr Azad Moopen, Chairman, DM Healthcare, Senior Officials from Govt. of Dubai entities and media.
The campaigns are part of DM Healthcare's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
STRAP - "Safety Tips for Road Accident Prevention", is a public information program, through which the Group intends to impart the message of road safety by raising awareness of risk and changing attitudes on the roads, thus trying to make the roads of the nation safer for all.
BEAT - "Be Empathetic, Act Timely", sessions aims to provide awareness training to people on Basic Life Support (BLS), emergency and first aid.
Eng. HE Al Maidoor, said, " The STRAP campaign is essential given the prevalence of road accident cases in the UAE and the BEAT campaign which educates people on basic life support is extremely important for all members of society."
Commenting on the campaign, Padma Shri Dr Azad Moopen, Chairman of DM Healthcare, said: "We are truly grateful for the support of the government authorities towards the campaigns. The Government has successfully worked towards building Dubai as one of the safest cities in the world. Yet, road safety isn't the responsibility of the authorities alone, but of each and every one of us. It is important that we, as corporates and individuals, lend a hand to the authorities in ensuring the continued safety of the city and its people."
"Our priority is on simple, yet very important focus areas, which would go a long way into saving lives. Training on emergency first-aid is an essential part of building a safer nation. Through the BEAT campaign, we aim to train at least 25,000 people across the city, with the hope that in times of an emergency, people are capable of saving a life and doing what is required in those critical moments," he added.
HE Khalifa Hassan Al Darai, Executive Director of Dubai Corporate for Ambulance Services (DCAS) said, "Dubai Ambulance Services provides training on basic life support as well as training on home emergencies especially with regard to child safety and we are very pleased to tie up with the private sector in this regard. We hope that through this campaign a lot of people gain knowledge and benefit from the training which will be provided."
Commenting on the importance of road safety and STRAP Campaign, a spokesperson from RTA said, "Car accidents are the third biggest cause of deaths worldwide. The UAE statistics of last year show that 720 people have died and 7,808 people have been injured in car accidents. We urge people to support us in this campaign and understand the fatality of road accidents. We are pleased to be a part of this campaign with DM Healthcare and extend all possible supports to reach mass. The campaign focuses on various issues, relevant to cars such as timely servicing, regular tyre checks for pressure and wear and tear, replace indicators or brake lights immediately, if they are malfunctioning. Avoiding the use of mobile phones or any such distractions are very important, along with following road rules and signboards" he added.
Timely action goes a long way in the saving the lives of victims.
Dr. ASTER Mobile Clinic will visit schools, industrial and corporate houses and other public places to spread awareness on road safety, extend free BEAT sessions and various health awareness programmes, including spreading awareness on the ill effects of using tobacco, as part of DM Healthcare's Stub It campaign. These initiatives synchronise with the various CSR initiates of DM Healthcare and its charitable arm, DM Foundation, as part of its social commitments announced during its silver jubilee celebrations, early this year.
