DM opens organic food market in Deira

The Marketing Management Section of Assets management department at Dubai Municipality in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Water has recently opened a market for organic fruits and vegetables produced in nine local farms. The move is aimed to support the national agricultural projects which can contribute to the protection of public health.

Mr. Obaid Ibrahim, Head of the Section said that the Municipality has selected a suitable area to display and sell those products which is located inside Deira fish market.

'The markets started with the participation of nine farms from across the country. We expect more farms to join the project understanding the huge financial and health benefits, he hopped.
'The civic body and the Ministry are keen to support and encourage the national farmers to produce organic fruits and vegetables and ready to provide them suitable place to promote and sell their products. The rent for these places will be symbolic in order to encourage the farmers. The department will soon upgrade and expand the market adding new facilities in line with advanced market requirements,' he added.
