DM opens six new residential parks during 33rd Plantation Week

Dubai Municipality opened six new residential parks with public squares jogging tracks as part of the 33rd Plantation Week Activities 2013 under the them 'Together We Plant the UAE' in different parts of the emirate of Dubai.

The five day activities ended on Thursday with the opening of Nad Al Hamar (5 hectors) and Al Aweer 2 (3.6 hectors) residential parks by H.E Mohammed Al Shaibani, Directo General The Ruler's Court and Khalid Ali Bin Zayed, Assistant Director General of DM respectively.

Eng. Hussain Nassir Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, Ahmad Abdul Kareem, Director Public Parks and Horticulture, Mohammed Al Nouri, Director Corporate Marketing and Relations and a number of senior officials were present on the occasion.

The newly opened parks during the plantation week include Al Hubab Park (4.7 hectors), Al Hubab Public Square(0.07 hectors), Al Warqa 2 Park(0.5 hectors) and Khawaneej Jogging Track (3,090 meters).

Eng. Hussain Nassir Lootah said, "The civic body has been taking part in this national eco-friendly initiative since its launching confirming its keenness to preserve the environment and sustainable development in tune with its vision to create an excellent city that provides essence of success and comfort of sustainable living."

Eng. Ahmad Abdul Kareem pointed out, "All newly opened parks are specially designed for families and free of entry charge. The public parks and horticulture department has exerted its maximum efforts to plant most suitable trees, bushes, shrubs and flowers inside and outside the parks. The parks are also provided with synthetic jogging tracks, solar powered illumination systems, comfortable playing and workout areas for kids and families in addition to the amenities such as toilets and cafeterias."

"Number of public parks in the emirate of Dubai reached to 122 so far including residential and public parks. Different types of solar power systems are used in every park," he said.
