DP World says Egyptian port affected by strike

  • Egypt: Monday, October 15 - 2012 at 01:41

DP World, the third largest port operator in the world, has said a strike has significantly disrupted operations at an Egyptian port run by the Dubai-based firm, Reuters has reported. Workers at the Ain al-Sokhna port launched a partial strike which turned into a full strike on Saturday. "Labour issues have caused a significant slowdown in operations, impacting both customers and the Egyptian economy. We are working to resolve the issues appropriately as soon as possible," DP World said. Ain al-Sokhna, near the southern end of the Suez Canal, is Cairo's main port for cargo from the Far East.
