DP World recognised for commitment to Sustainable Transport

DP World, UAE Region has for the second time been recognised in the prestigious Dubai Awards for Sustainable Transport (DAST) initiated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The fifth edition of DAST Award was held under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, and presented by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, who honoured the winners along with Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA.
The award was presented by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region and Farid Mohammed, Assistant Manager - Quality, DP World, UAE Region.
Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, said,
"We are proud to be recognised for the second consecutive year and will continue to work hard to achieve even greater results for our efficiency and environmental efforts. The Automated Gate project and the enhancement of our port transportation fleet are part of our many initiatives aimed at easing traffic around and inside Jebel Ali Port, as well as reducing cost and carbon emissions. We are committed to sustainability within our business and our community."
The DAST Award includes five categories: mobility management, transportation safety, environmental protection, special needs, and school transportation. The number of submissions received this year increased to 89 for a total of 15 different awards. At its first submission last year, DP World won the Mobility Management Award for its 'Automated Gate System' project in Jebel Ali Port.
