Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Fakhro briefs on market development

Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro confirmed government and Ministry keen to follow up on all issues and developments related to the availability of basic food items, and to consider appropriate options to provide citizens and residents needs of these materials.
During his presence in Manama Central Market, Mr. Redha Al Bustani confirmed the availabilities of required quantities of all kinds of vegetables including those that might be scarce in the market because stop export form Saudi Arabia such as potatoes, watermelons, onions, but he stressed the availability of those from alternative sources and that prices will remain stable.
In this regard, he noted that Indian onions are available in the market. Watermelon, potatoes and melon are imported from Lebanon and Syria.
And confirmed that what was published by some newspapers recently of the possibility in prices rise of vegetables is based on assumptions and incorrect probabilities. Traders denounced what newspapers wrote that vegetable prices will raise significantly, what has been said is not true.
In term of meat, Manama and Muharraq Central Market Butchers praised the efforts made by the Ministry in order to resolve live meat shortage. The Minister confirmed in his speech to the butchers the intensive efforts undertaken by the Ministry and will continue be close to everyone in order to reassure citizens and provide their needs and to fill shortages that occurred recently.
On the other Hand, General Manager of Bahrain Livestock Company Ibrahim Salman confirmed that a shipment of live meat from different sources will arrive Bahrain from Saudi Arabia the next few days.
