- PRESS RELEASE
Drake and Scull Qatar (DSI Qatar), a wholly owned subsidiary of Drake and Scull International PJSC (DSI), a regional market leader in integrated design, engineering and construction disciplines of Civil Contracting, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), Water and Power, Rail and Oil and Gas, has been recently awarded a contract worth over QR300m for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of all MEP works for a Mix Use Real Estate Development Project in Doha.
DSI Qatar further revealed that it is currently showcasing its high-profile projects and sharing key insights on emerging industry trends during its participation at the MEED Qatar Conference 2013, which is running from February 17 to 20, 2013 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Doha.
Karem Akawi, Area General Manager, Drake & Scull Qatar, said, "The development serves as one of our flagship projects in Qatar that strongly demonstrates the full spectrum of our service portfolio. Our integrated EPC solutions and particularly the MEP and the Water & Power are vital factors that will strengthen our presence in Qatar, which we expect to develop into a long-term market on par with other regional powerhouse markets such as KSA and the UAE. The gradual roll-out of the ambitious infrastructure development programme related to Doha's hosting of the World Cup in 2022 and the Qatar National Vision 2030 is a key factor that is driving market growth. In addition, there is also the rail side that is coming on stream - another priority project of the government that is part of our target areas."
"These large-scale projects will certainly create unique and unprecedented challenges and will subsequently require broadly experienced contractors and consultants that have the resources, knowledge and strong financial capability to support these projects. This is where Drake & Scull stands out as the most competent in carrying out the MEP components of such projects because of our highly specialised expertise and our proven track record in delivering large-scale projects. The MEED Qatar Conference surely serves as an excellent venue to showcase our strengths and strategic advantages to support the unprecedented infrastructure work that is being carried out across Qatar," added Akawi.
DSI Qatar stands out as a market leader as its Civil, MEP and Water and power divisions that are well established, well structured, and most importantly, financially secure.
DSI Qatar has a strong relationship with governmental development entities and major local property developers such as Qatari Diar among others. The company also focuses on QHSE and adopts policies and procedures that strictly adhere to international quality standards and safety norms.
