DTCM organizes 'We Are Green' exhibition on 7th April

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) will be organizing 'Green Exhibition' from 7th -9th April to coincide with the Dubai Green Festival, the first ever city wide green celebration in the region which will be held from 7th to 13th April, launched by the DTCM in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the importance of preserving environment.

The exhibition's idea focuses on promoting the importance of environmental awareness as part of social development efforts involving businesses, individuals and communities by encouraging initiatives and efforts that aim to increase ecological awareness and preserve environment for sustainable development.

Mr. Eyad Abdul Rahman, Executive Director Media Relations & Business Development, said, "Organizing this first of its kind green extravaganza in the region comes in response to the UAE's aspirations for innovative solutions to environmental problems and sustainable development."

He said, "The exhibition is dedicated to achieving a host of goals, most notably rationalizing environmental behavior, supporting community participation to preserve and understand the surrounding environment and its interaction with biological, economic, social and cultural aspects."

He outlined, "Ecological challenges facing the world and the importance of promoting awareness among the business community, individuals and societies."

He stressed, "The importance of encouraging constructive initiatives and efforts aiming at raising ecological awareness and preserve environment to ultimately achieve sustainable development."

"The exhibition will provide a precious opportunity for decision makers, business leaders and executives in government and private bodies and institutions, as well as representatives of leading international companies specialized in technology of preserving environment and sustainable energy," he noted.

He said, "The main aim of the exhibition is to enhance environmental awareness among community," adding, "We are witnessing a serious action by the UAE towards adopting environmentally-friendly projects that aim to preserve environment in general."

"Organizing this exhibition comes as part of activities launched by the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing to provide practical and tangible solutions to problems related to the issues of sustainable development, including environmental conservation. The exhibition will also offer an ideal platform for professionals in the hospitality and tourism sector and education sector as well as providers of environmental solutions to network and exchange expertise." He added.

He stressed, "The need to formulate responsible and sound ecological policies and embrace programmes designed to find solutions to problems facing many sectors, such as the energy, water and tourism sectors, so as to ensure a healthy environment."

"The three days green exhibition will offer an opportunity for various sectors to communicate and share successful experiences in the field of environment and sustainable development, such as the Green Tourism, Green Style, Green Communication, Green Education, Green Health, Green Energy, Green House, Green Finance, Green Workplace, Green Building, and many more," he said.

The Dubai Green Festival is the first ever City -Wide Green Celebration in the region in which all community segments are engaged with the aim of raising the public awareness about the importance of preservation of environment and develop practices of environmental sustainability. The major event also engages government and private corporates and organizations in tourism, commercial, educational, social and economic sectors to share their successful experiences.

The festival features numerous environmental and entertaining events and activities targeting all segments of the society. It includes Green Panel Discussion presentations, competitions, Green Marketplace, presentation of the best international practices in ecological conservation, workshops to enhance environmental culture and others.
