Dubai announces mega projects to boost tourism

The ruler of Dubai yesterday approved billions of dollars worth of development projects, two of which are aimed at boosting tourism in the emirate. The new projects include a Dhs2.5bn expansion of the Madinat Jumeirah and the construction of a 120-metre pedestrian bridge that will stretch across Dubai Creek from Bur Dubai to Shindagha. The fourth phase of the Madinat expansion will include a luxury five-star hotel, villas complex, restaurants, a commercial centre featuring retail stores and an open walking area. Sheikh Mohammed said the project was slated to be completed before the end of 2015. The luxury hotel in the project will have 420 rooms with sea views and will also feature a range of international restaurants. The group of villas and hotel apartments in the project will be run by Jumeirah Living, one of the subsidiaries of Jumeirah Group. The complex will host 45 luxury villas and hotel apartments. The project is slated to be completed before the end of 2015. The Creek Panorama project is aimed at being another unique landmark in the emirate that will provide a pedestrian-friendly tourism venue in the busy business district.
