Dubai Chamber hosts 7th GCC Real Estate Committee meeting

Also present at the meeting were H.E. Abdulrahim Hasan Naqi, Secretary General, Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FGCC Chambers), and Mr. Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Director, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber.

The Committee discussed ways to support and promote the real estate sector which is one of the most important sectors responsible for attracting FDI inflows while they also focused on the need to exploit the potential of the sector in member countries.

The members also debated the issue of real estate regulations, brokerage and the use of modern technology in serving the clients as well as the quick registration of property with the relevant authorities.

The Secretary General of the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry said that the 7th GCC Real Estate Committee meeting shows the commitment of the members to iron out the challenges faced by the real estate sector as it needs to put in more efforts to set its house in order in the region.

He added that the committee members visited the office of the Dubai Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) at the Land Department and got an insight into the services provided by the Authority, especially as Dubai is recognised as an economic role model and Dubai Chamber as one of the main gateways to global chambers of commerce.

The meeting was attended by the Committee's President H.E. Shihab bin Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Chairman, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Rashed Hamad Hzaa AlAzba, Board Member of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Hassan Ibrahim Kamal, Head of Property Sector, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Hamad bin Ali Shuweir, Chairman of the Real Estate Committee of the Saudi Council of Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Mohamad Hasan Al Amir, Mr. Abdulraouf Abdul Razak Al Bashir, and Mr. Ghazi Bin Jamal Qoutb, all from the Saudi Council of Chambers of Commerce.

Other Committee members included Mr. Khalid Abdul Aziz Kashwani, Head of the Real Estate Committee, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Hamad Ghanem Al Shamsi, Board Member, Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Mohammad Al Janahi, Executive Director, Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Abdulla Bin Jraiss of Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Salim Obaid Rashid Al Salami of Fujairah Chamber, and Mr. Abdul Aziz Dhgaishem Al Dhgaishem of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce.
