Dubai Chamber seminar to raise awareness on consumer protection

On the occasion of the 8th GCC Consumer Protection Day, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with the UAE Ministry of Economy is organising 'Best Practices in Consumer Protection Seminar, at its premises on Tuesday, March 26.

With its aim to share the best practices in protecting consumers in the UAE and Singapore, the seminar will highlight consumers' issues and the measures taken by the concerned departments to safeguard the consumers' legitimate rights and interests. It will be attended by public and private sector representatives including business executives and legal professionals.

The seminar will also be attended by a top official of the UAE Ministry of Economy and will have a presentation by Mr. Ahmed Naji AbdulGhani Ammari, Head of Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection Sector, Dubai Department of Economic Development, on the Role of DED in Consumer Protection.

Providing a global perspective on the topic, Prof. Ang Peng Hwa, Vice President, Consumer Association of Singapore will shed light on Consumer Protection & Fair Trading in Singapore.

Organised in line with Dubai Chamber's strategic objectives of creating a favourable business environment and supporting the development of business, experts from the concerned consumer protection authorities will raise awareness about the concept of consumer rights and duties.

On its part, Dubai Chamber regularly organises trainings, seminars and workshops to apprise the business community with the various trade legislations, laws and rights as part of its efforts to serve the business community which ultimately go on to boost their trade and contribute to the economic growth of Dubai.
