Dubai Courts provide marital status confirmation service at Ministry of Social Affairs headquarters

Dubai Courts commenced, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, a service to prove the marital status at the ministry's headquarters.

This decision stems from the purpose of providing the best services to clients with the direct help of sworn ministry employees and without the need of the concerned individuals to be present at Dubai Courts for the certificate.

8 Ministry of Social Affairs employees were sworn in front of the Head of the Elementary Personal Status Court, Judge Salem Obeid, for a mission to prove the marital status of the applicants seeking to obtain social assistance for the elderly, female widows and divorcees and others.

The Ministry of Social Affairs requires documentation to prove the continuation of the state of widowhood and unemployment, or certificates of non-marriage or unemployment situations or documentations pertaining to a continued state of divorce or unemployment, or a certificate proving individual accommodation or continuation of marriage and unemployment, or child custody.

This step was the result of a series of meetings between Dubai Courts and the Ministry of Social Affairs held to explore the best and easiest tools that allow applicants to prove easily their marital status which is a Dubai Courts specialty.

Both parts found that the best way to solve this issue is that the applicants will get the needed certificates from the Ministry headquarter after presenting their social aid applications. And for reaching better, high quality services for citizens, both parties decided to have a team based at the Ministry to facilitate this matter.

The juror team will receive the documents from the customer and make sure it is valid, and then the same team will listen to witnesses and collect the needed applications in order to deliver them to court headquarters for obtaining necessary ratification from a Personal Status Court judge. Previously, the applicant had to stand in person in front of the judge to confirm the case to be issued the certificate, which used to cause plenty of hassle.

Dr. Ahmad Said bin Hazeem, the Director General of Dubai Courts, said, "The new situation stems from the keenness of Dubai Courts to provide the best services to customers to enhance its leadership role in the work of the courts. In addition the primary motivation is providing the best and easiest services to clients, where all departments of Dubai Courts work continuously to achieve excellence, and always strives to improve organizational performance, until they became a global existing model in accordance with sophisticated administrative systems aligned along social and economic variables. And that was reflected through the foreign delegations that the Dubai Courts has been receiving daily."

Bin Hazim added, "The provision of the service to prove marital status at the Ministry of Social Affairs Headquarters is an important step intended to increase customer satisfaction and facilitate procedures that require this certificate."

For his part, Judge Said Salem Obaid head of the Personal Status Court at Dubai Courts said that employees who were sworn in are fully aware of the requirements for issuance of a certificate to prove the marital status, and confirm with as many possible means form the cases that are presented before them.

They also confirm the witnesses since they must be certain of their testimony, and if their testimony was not valid, or they had provided false information, then they expose themselves to legal accountability.
