Dubai Culture and Arts Authority supports DIFF to further develop global connectivity and world-class creativity

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated Authority for culture, arts, and heritage, under the Chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has extended its support to the Dubai International Film Festival for its ninth edition to be held from December 9 to 16, 2012.

Dubai Culture has supported DIFF since 2009 with the shared understanding that a vibrant film industry is necessary to convey the stories and messages about Dubai's culture, values, traditions, history and contemporary lifestyle to the world.

The Authority has achieved great success in accelerating the growth of a cultural industry in Dubai through its range of pioneering initiatives in the city such as the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Patrons of the Arts Awards, Soul of Dubai, and the Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre, and by supporting events such as the Gulf Film Festival, Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, and Art Dubai, among others.

DIFF Chairman, Abdulhamid Juma, said, "Fostering a dynamic local film industry is one of our main objectives, and Dubai Culture are equally committed to building a strong creative environment, nurturing and developing talents to achieve regional and international success, as well as strengthening artistic community engagement. Through our continued partnership and striving for the same goals together we can enrich the region's cultural and artistic scene that is recognised in the region and the world."

Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said, "The region's film industry has witnessed significant changes over the last few years with a number of talented Emirati youngsters showcasing their skills to a global audience. The Dubai International Film Festival plays a key role in providing career-defining opportunities for the city's cinematic talent, further underlining Dubai's position as the regional hub for the film industry. Our support to DIFF builds on our commitment to strengthen the cultural infrastructure of Dubai."
