- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Government entities, which have been named 'Official Partners' of the UAE's bid to host the 2020 World Expo, collectively highlighted the strength of their shared commitment to supporting this national campaign to welcome the world on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the country.
In addition to actively participating in ongoing briefing sessions facilitated by the Expo 2020 bid team, Government of Dubai entities are now promoting the campaign internally through, for example, the adoption of Expo collaterals such as links and logos, and via newsletter and social media updates.
As well, Dubai Government departments are incorporating Expo messages in their external communication and directly promoting it at key events, highlighting the strengths of the UAE's bid to all their stakeholders.
The Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo, which is overseeing the campaign, offered its gratitude to Dubai Government staff for their active engagement with the bid.
"The public sector will continue to play a central role in our campaign to host the 2020 World Expo, so we are especially grateful to the Government of Dubai's various entities for their shared commitment to raising awareness about the bid and generating support for it," said Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State and the Committee's Managing Director.
"Dubai Government staff continues to set new benchmarks in this regard, inspiring public-sector entities across the UAE to join this national campaign," Her Excellency said.
"Working together with government bodies, the community and the private sector, including our 'Premier Partners,' we will continue to strengthen our shared effort to welcome the world in 2020," she added.
Dubai, UAE, is competing against four other candidate cities bidding to host the 2020 World Expo, including Ayutthaya 'Thailand'; Ekaterinburg 'Russia'; Izmir 'Turkey'; and Sao Paulo 'Brazil'.
The winning city will be announced in November 2013 following a vote by the 161 member nations of the Bureau International des Expositions - the international organisation responsible for overseeing the bidding, selection and organisation of World Expos.
