Dubai market retreats slightly

Despite a strong start into Wednesday trading, the DFM General Index ended off 0.15% at 1,643.52 points. It was a day of retreat for real estate- and construction-related firms. Emaar (down 0.54%), Islamic home financing firm Tamweel (1.36% lower) and maintenance and energy specialist DSI (losing 0.12%) weighed on the gauge. Emirates NBD fell by 0.34%. Earlier in the day, the UAE's largest lender by assets said it launched 'Privileges and More' for its priority banking customers, a scheme which offers 80 exclusive services from well-known brands. According RBS Merril Lynch, the Middle East was in 2011 the only region that witnesses a growth in assets of high net worth individuals.
