Dubai market rises back to 1,600 points

Althoug the war in Gaza did not end in a ceasefire yesterday as widely expected, the Dubai market DFM gained for the second day, closing 0.54% higher at 1,599.92 points Wednesday. Real estate maintenance firm Drake and Scull International or DSI added 0.70% to hit Dhs0.734. Earlier in the day, DSI said that its wholly owned German subsidiary Passavant-Roediger GmbH has been awarded a contract for the expansion of the Thu Duc Water Treatment Plant in Vietnam. The contract is worth Dhs169m. It is the first project for Passavant-Roediger in Vietnam, said DSI in a statement to the DFM. Around 124m shares were traded, valued at Dhs133m.
