Dubai Municipality, ECAT participate in 16th General Conference of Arab Towns Organisation in Doha

A joint delegation from Dubai Municipality and The Environmental Center for Arab Towns (ECAT) reached Doha to participate in the 16th Conference of The Arab Town Organisation (ATO) held in Doha from May 14 to 16 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar.

The delegation is headed by Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Environmental Center for Arab Towns.

"The conference under the theme 'Arab Cities and Challenges of Sustainable Development' aims to exchange expertise and successful experiences for the advancement of Arab cities and their inhabitants," Lootah said.

"The three day conference will cover various issues, including urban planning, environment, urban poverty, green economy and youth issues, in addition to urban transport, waste and water treatment and other topics relevant to cities and municipalities in Arab countries," he said.

On the sidelines of the conference there will be exhibitions on urban issues and challenges faced by cities. Three workshops will also be organized with activities associated with a number of important issues in the field of sustainable development. The ECAT will held a workshop on 'Arab cities and challenges of green economy'.
