Dubai Municipality hosts experts in 3rd International Architectural Conservation Conference and Exhibition

The 3rd International Architectural Conservation Conference and Exhibition (IACCE) will bring together architects, engineers and municipalities from around the world to discuss the management of cultural heritage in historic areas and the project implementation of urban conservation.

The exhibition and conference, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, will take place from the 17 - 19 December at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

The conference will tackle various topics on historic architecture such as policies, strategies and decision making in historical environment, economics of conservation and sustainable environment, cultural development and awareness, management of cultural heritage in historic areas and in project implementation and practical aspects of urban conservation.

Eng. Rashad Bukhash, Director of Architectural Heritage Department at Dubai Municipality, Chairman of the Organising Committee, said that the conference will host a group of experts in cultural heritage from the Middle East and around the world.

Keynote speakers include His Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities in Saudi Arabia, Her Excellency Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture and Information in Bahrain and His Excellency Stefano De Caro, Director-General, International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) in Italy.

Highlights from the conference will include a seminar on the best practices relates to the development and cultural heritage that can be applied to historical environments, delivered by Munir Bushnaki, UNESCO Assistant Director General for Culture.

Gustavo Araoz, Chairman of the International Council on Monuments and Sites in France will deliver a speech on the importance of conservation and Eng. Raef Najem, Former Minister of Islamic Affairs in Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will speak on the protection of Jerusalem's cultural identity.

The IACCE organising committee has received full papers from around the world covering all the themes of the conference which have been reviewed by 31 scientific committee members. The conference expects a large numbers of attendees from across the world with various areas of expertise in the field of heritage.
