Dubai Municipality organizes seminar on World Wetlands Day

Dubai Municipality has marked World Wetlands Day organizing a seminar on preserving water recourses and wetlands, at Zabeel hall in Municipality Club.

Environmental Awareness Section and Marine Environment & Wildlife Section at the Environment Department of Municipality, jointly headed the activities.

This year wetlands day activities are organized under the theme 'Wetlands take care of Water'.

Development becomes meaningful only when it considers the nature and its recourses. Blind eye on the environment and the resources will result in havocs that affects even generations to come, said Mohammed Abdul Rahman Hassan, Head of Marine Environment & Wildlife Section at Municipality.

"Our wetlands are where the life actually based in, not only for human but also for a huge variety of flora and fauna. To educate people, especially the younger generation on the importance of recognizing these life hubs and acting accordingly is need of the hour," he continued.

"Organizing such initiatives with green messages comes within the vision of Dubai Municipality and it has been always keen on preserving the environment and resources of the Emirate," he added further.

Eng. Sultan Alzaaby from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority presented paper on sustainable water management.

Shaikha Hassan Al Shehhy, from Ajman Municipality introduced the delegates the features of Zawra Protected Area in Ajman. Dr. Ada Natoli, Asst. Professor at Biology Department in United Arab Emirates University presented a paper on the ongoing dolphin Project in the country.

Participants had an open session where they could interact with the experts on the topics presented. Distribution of certificates and honouring held at the concluding session.
