Dubai Municipality partners with Informa Exhibitions to launch Green Energy Middle East Conference

Taking place on Monday 18 February, Green Energy Middle East Conference will run alongside Middle East Electricity and Solar Middle East, which both run from 17-19 February at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The conference comprises a notable line-up of senior government speakers involved in drafting the new green regulations, and will be chaired by Saeed Alabbar, Director of AESG, and Vice Chairman of the Emirates Green Building Council.

Abdulla Rafiya, Assistant Director General of Engineering and Planning at the Dubai Municipality, will be among the first speakers in the morning of the one-day conference, outlining the new green building regulations and specifications and how the construction, engineering and power generation industries will be affected.

The inaugural Green Energy Middle East Conference will also host a top assemble of regional green technology experts, including Rami Hajjar, General Manager of Philips Middle East, who will outline the role of eco-friendly and modern technologies on reducing carbon emissions, and Solaiman Al Riffai, Director of Project Finance at the Dubai Carbon Center for Excellence, who will talk about carbon reduction through a sector based approach.

The one-day conference will culminate with a panel discussion about key factors for successful Public Private Partnership (PPP) frameworks in energy projects explaining how the public and private sectors can work together to achieve the new energy targets.

Now in its 38th edition, Middle East Electricity is the largest and longest-running energy event in the Middle East, attracting upwards of 15,000 visitors from 120 countries every year. The 2013 edition of the three-day event will host more than 1,100 exhibitors from 58 countries, out to showcase their latest products and solutions in the power, nuclear, lighting, and renewable sectors.

The inaugural edition of Solar Middle East is a dedicated platform for the burgeoning regional solar industry, and is set to become largest gathering of solar technology suppliers ever seen in the Middle East.

Middle East Electricity returns with the popular Middle East Electricity Awards, an extended programme of technical seminars, and is partnered with Power + Water Middle East in Abu Dhabi, Power Nigeria in Abuja and Africa Electricity in Johannesburg.
