Dubai to pay $7.2m bonus to cab plate holders

The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has ordered the payment of Dhs26.5m ($7.21m) to Emiratis, whose 6,591 taxicab number plates are being used by the Dubai Taxi Corp and taxi franchise companies registered with RTA, Wam has reported. The General Transport Corp will commence the distribution of a bonus payment for 2012 to the beneficiaries, in addition to their annual entitlements.
