The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), an agency under the Department of Economic Development (DED) and organizers of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), is heading a delegation to promote the upcoming 18th edition of the festival across the GCC countries in addition to leading separate delegations to China and India.

The delegation heading to GCC commenced its promotional tour on Wednesday 5th December in Kuwait, and also is being represented by the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Department of Naturalisation and Residency, Dubai (DNRD) and Emirates Airline.

During their visit to GCC countries, the delegation led by Ibrahim Saleh, Festivals Coordinator General at DEPE, will announce details of the latest edition of DSF - one of the world's biggest shopping and entertainment extravaganzas.

Other members of the delegation are Abdullah bin Swaidan, DTCM's Deputy Director, Overseas Promotions and Inward Mission, Captain Jasim Ahli of DNRD and Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates' Senior Vice President Gulf, Middle East and Iran.

After concluding their visit to Kuwait, the DEPE-led team will head off to Bahrain for the road show being held on 6th December, followed by the road shows in Doha, Qatar on the 9th December and Oman on 10th December. The final leg of their GCC-wide tour will take the delegation to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia for the road show on 12th December.

DEPE will also hold a road show in India on 10th December and in China from 17-21 December. Launched in 1996 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to position Dubai as a leading tourist destination, DSF has become one of the most famous festivals brands in the world with its universally appealing slogan 'One World, One Family, One Festival'.

Ibrahim Saleh, Festivals Coordinator General and Deputy CEO of DEPE, said, "During the road shows DEPE would market and promote the 18th edition of the shopping and entertainment extravaganza to media organizations, travel agents, and tour operators, familiarizing them with the attractions of DSF, which will be held under the slogan 'Dubai at its Best'."

Mr. Ibrahim Saleh, said, "The GCC has been and remains a core market for DSF not only due to geographical proximity but also for the fact that we share the same values and cultural backgrounds. The festival's marketing slogan 'Dubai at its Best' signifies the best of everything that the vibrant emirate stands for, and especially during DSF, when it offers unparalleled and unforgettable experiences to visitors and residents alike."

Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates' Senior Vice President Gulf, Middle East and Iran, said, "Emirates has been a major sponsor of the Dubai Shopping Festival since its inception in 1996. We are proud to once again be involved with this incredible event as part of our commitment to the development of Dubai as a world-class tourist destination."

"DSF is much more than just a festival - it attracts thousands of visitors to shop and explore Dubai's many fantastic attractions - and Emirates will be playing its part by bringing in travellers from across our network of 127 destinations," Al Mualla, added.

Captain Jasim Ahli of DNRD, said, "Our participation in the DSF road shows is based on the directions of our Director-General, Major General Mohammed Al Marri and reflects the commitment of DNRD to help promote Dubai as a global tourist destination. All our branches across the UAE are open and operational from 7.30am to 8pm daily while our service centres at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport work round the clock."

Abdullah bin Swaidan, DTCM's Deputy Director, Overseas Promotions and Inward Mission, said, "We are happy to extend our support to Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, and this is ample testimony to the cooperation and coordination between various government departments in Dubai."

DTCM has been promoting Dubai in the GCC countries, in India and China for the past so many years through our offices in those destinations. We have also been promoting DSF at all events and exhibitions organized by the DTCM, as well as in events in which we participate around the world.
