Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority appoints Hayssam Balach as Senior Vice-President -Business Development

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis, the integrated free zone technology park, announced the appointment of Hayssam Balach as Senior Vice-President - Business Development.

In his new role at DSOA, Balach will be responsible for attracting technology companies to set-up operations at DSO in line with the free zone's mission to create a universally recognized, state-of-the-art, holistic technology hub.

Balach is additionally mandated to highlight DSO's role as a facilitator of entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as research and development.

Prior to joining DSOA, Balach served as Vice-President - Operations for Europe and Asia for systems on a chip (SoC) specialist Sonics Inc. In addition to hiring and managing application engineers and sales managers, Balach was tasked with overseeing local marketing activities.

During his tenure, he drove significant growth in licensing revenues and played a key role in signing on Europe's largest semiconductor IDM. Earlier Balach held various positions at MIPS Technologies, Toshiba, Hitachi and Amdahl.

A wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai, Dubai Silicon Oasis operates as a free zone technology park for semiconductors, microelectronics and other electronics-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and R&D divisions in the Middle East and North Africa region.
