Dubai SME launches Facebook contest to support SME brand awareness and creativity

Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) mandated to develop the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector, has launched a 'Brand Creativity Contest' on facebook to encourage and reward creativity and innovation among SMEs and entrepreneurs.
Smeconnect.ae facilitates knowledge sharing and networking among all stakeholders in entrepreneurship development while Business Village serves as a one-stop shop and a complete enabling environment for entrepreneurial initiatives.
The competitions will be held on the facebook pages of smeconnect.ae and Business Village. All SMEs licensed by DED or any Free Zone in Dubai as well as home-based businesses operating under the 'Intelaq' licenses of Dubai SME can participate in the competition.
All that is required of participants is to post a picture of their brand in a creative way on the respective facebook page. The picture with the highest number of votes will be declared the winner. The competition closes on 30 June 2012.
"Dubai SME explores all channels that SMEs can profitably utilise to engage with customers and service providers. Given the strong following social media enjoys in the UAE, SMEs and budding entrepreneurs can use it effectively for their marketing and business development," said Rafat Wahbeh, Senior Manager - Community Development at Business Village.
Winners in the smeconnect.ae contest will get free consultancy to establish and maintain creative social media presence and the opportunity to learn with an auditing processes how to build financial health and credibility. Entries for these two prizes are accepted on www.facebook.com/smeconnectae. Prizes in the Business Village contest include support in brand identity creation and consultancy on developing a robust sales plan. Entry to the competition is through www.facebook.com/bvdubai.
The prizes are sponsored by Cactix, Quantum Auditing, TAGBrands and The Whole Thing.
