The graduation ceremony, which was held at the Emirates Aviation College in Dubai, was attended by Mr. Shahab Al Jassmi, Senior Commercial Manager, Dubai Trade and Mr. Alex Borg, Executive Director & Regional Coordinator, CILT, along with trade representatives.

During the graduation ceremony Dubai Trade received the 'Best Training Initiative of the year 2011' Award-the first of its kind to be given by CILT-in recognition of Dubai Trade's distinction in developing and delivering CTLP program.

Since CTLP's launch in 2011more than 290 professionals from shipping agencies, freight forwarders, customs brokers, hauliers and other companies and entities involved in imports and exports, have successfully completed the programme to develop and maximize their companies' business operations efficiency.

Mr. Shahab Al Jassmi, Senior Commercial Manager, Dubai Trade, said, "We are glad to see demand for the CTLP programme growing steadily in such a short time since its launch last year. This underlines the success of the programme in delivering the practical skills and knowledge required for the trading community's smooth operations. Strategically, our professional training programmes along with Dubai Trade's drive to continuously improve and widen the adoption of its e-services will lead us closer to our goal of assisting in making the UAE the world's leading and most active hub for international trade and logistics."

Mr. Al Jassmi Added, "I would like to thank CILT for the award and express Dubai Trade's gratitude for their continuous support that reflects very positively on both our institutions."

Mr. Alex Borg, Executive Director & Regional Coordinator, CILT, said, "What makes the Certified Trade & Logistics Professional Programme excellent for all trading professionals in the UAE and in the region is that combines hands-on training and knowledge in the complete cycle of cross-border trade from both perspectives; internally and locally. It is tailor-made to best serve the needs of the supply chain markets in the region."

A new initiative designed specifically for supply chain professionals among women under the title of "Women in Logistics in the UAE", was also launched by CILT during the graduation ceremony.

The CTLP covers seven modules, ranging from the 'Fundamentals of Importing and Exporting' to 'Multi-Modal Transportation, Transhipment and Chartering', 'Freight Forwarding, Logistics and Supply Chain' and 'Dubai Customs and DP World e-Services.' It is given around the year over a period of one to two weeks, with the next course starting June 24.

Developed by Dubai Trade and endorsed by the CILT, the Certified Trade & Logistics Professional, which is the only comprehensive vocational training programme that covers the end to end process of import and export in the UAE and the region, aims to create professionals who are knowledgeable in trade policies and supply chain processes internationally as well as specifically within the UAE.

Dubai Trade is responsible for facilitating and speeding up customs and cargo handling procedures by transforming them into integrated e-services that are shared by the concerned government entities and the trading community in a single window.
