The premier cross-border trade facilitator under Dubai World, has urged trading companies and logistic service providers registered with Dubai Trade Portal to raise their adoption rate of e-services provided on the portal in coming months to increase their chances for winning the prestigious E-Service Excellence Award 2012.

The ESEA was launched in 2008 and it awarded the best performer of its e-service the "e-Token". In 2009 the ESEA awarded the 5 best performers in the Rosoom e-payment service, another popular online service available on the Dubai Trade Portal.

ESEA 2010 was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and was attended by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, who awarded the 6 best performers from the diverse trading and supply chain companies.

In 2011 the event continued to be held under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, that year the ESEA recognised and honoured nine of Dubai Trade's customers that posted the best performance in adopting e-services and e-solutions offered on the portal.

Currently in its fifth year, the 2012 award will be given to companies in ten categories including importers, exporters, re-exporters, shipping agents (container and general cargo), freight forwarders, clearing agents and hauliers, in addition to Free Zone companies and Rosoom Wallet Adopter of the Year. The ceremony will take place Monday morning, January 28, 2013.

More than 65,000 companies are now registered with Dubai Trade to avail of the various e-services and facilities offered by DP World, Economic Zone World (EZW) and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).

These innovative services, which are shared between users and all concerned authorities over a single window, allow users to initiate and fully complete online all procedures and processes related to the services, including payment, in a highly secure, user-friendly and cost effective manner.

Eng. Mahmood Al Bastaki, CEO, Dubai Trade, said, "The E-Services Excellence Award has been a very effective tool in spreading awareness about e-services and the huge benefits they offer the trading community. As Dubai Trade works relentlessly to excel in its mission of facilitating the digital transformation in trade and logistic activities, we are rewarded by the increasing number of companies opting for e-services. In turn, we have instituted the ESEA in recognition of the efforts made by top adopters and to encourage other members of the trading community to follow suit. This is how we build customer loyalty and keep the UAE steady on the path to leading the world in international trade."

To qualify for the E-Services Excellence Award's competition; companies should demonstrate an increase in the percentage of adoption for e-services. The company with the highest accumulated monthly growth starting from January to December 2012 will be selected as the winner for a particular Award category.

Criteria for winning also stipulate that trading companies should have conducted their transactions through Dubai Trade Portal for key e-services of any of Dubai Trade stakeholders (DP World; Dubai Customs; EZ World; DMCC). Also, a company competing for a particular award category should have a minimum of 80% overall online adoptions as the number and volume of transactions will be taken in consideration.

ESEA, which is based on actual e-service adoption rates, is the first of its kind in the region. It is organised by Dubai Trade to celebrate the growing success of digital transformation in trade and logistics activities, build customer's loyalty, and spread awareness of Dubai Trade Portal as the single window for trade facilitation. Dozens of ESEA recipients have enjoyed the market recognition bestowed by the award since its launch in 2008.
