- PRESS RELEASE
The UAE commands nearly half the market share of welding machinery in the Middle East and over 72% of the GCC industry. This was revealed by DVS − German Welding Society, while announcing the launch of 'DVS Congress Arabia 2013' which will be held on 7th and 8th of January, alongside the debut-making 'Arabia Essen Welding and Cutting 2013' trade fair.
Speaking about the regional welding industry, Dr. Klaus Middeldorf, General Manager of DVS − German Welding Society, said that from 2002 to 2011 there was a remarkable growth in the UAE welding industry, thanks to the significant increase in the steel and oil production as well as the production of polymers. All these factors have combined to boost the welding technologies in the UAE in a record time.
DVS Congress will be addressed by more than ten international speakers from the joining industry throwing light on the growth, challenges, potential, threats and ways of boosting collaboration and share expertise between international companies and local peers.
Dr. Middeldorf added that ship building and repair works offer an interesting market for joining, welding and for thermal spray applications. In addition, offshore constructions, non-destructive testing, corrosion protection, underwater welding, wind tower and solar power constructions also provide a boost to this industry in the UAE.
Satish Khanna, General Manager, Al Fajer Information and Services, said, "Arabia Essen Welding & Cutting 2013 that is held alongside twin shows − Tekno Arabia and Tube Arabia - will take place from 7 to 10 January, 2013, at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre. The highlight will be the two-day world class welding congress that will discuss the future of welding in the Middle East."
The DVS Congress will allow global companies dealing with welding technology to connect with local businesses and highlight economic potentials of welding technology in the region.
Arabia Essen Welding & Cutting 2013 will focus on welding, cutting and surfacing. Factors influencing the welding market in the Middle East include resurgence of global construction industry and the robust expansion of the energy sector. Further, the increased investments in the high speed rail networks are poised to drive market growth in the next few years
Khanna added, "We are happy to hold Arabia Essen Welding & Cutting in Dubai for the first time. The new fair is the result of successful collaboration between the fair companies in Essen and Düsseldorf and us. As in the case of all the fairs in the Schweissen & Schneiden-family, DVS is the ideal and specialist cooperation partner of the event."
