Egypt awards Arinc passenger processing system contract

US-based Aeronautical Radio, Inc. (Arinc), part of the Carlyle Group, has been awarded a contract by the Egyptian Airports Co to install its passenger processing solution vMUSE at five regional airports in the country. The Arinc vMUSE platform will be installed at Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor, Aswan, Borg El Arab and Abu Simbel airports. Under the three-year deal, Arinc is to procure, build and install the core common use passenger processing systems (CUPPS) and provide remote third level support, while Aviation Information Technology (AVIT), a subsidiary of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, will handle first and second level support. The contract includes a 14-week delivery and implementation schedule for all systems to all five airports by the end of May 2013.
