Egypt picks Rotem to upgrade metro line

Egypt's National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has announced that the South Korea's Rotem has been awarded the contract to provide 20 air-conditioned trains for Cairo's Marg-Helwan metro line at a cost of EGP2.16bn, Daily News Egypt has reported. The project will commence 18 months after the contract is signed. The authority is also preparing to invite firms to bid next month for the right to begin the third stage of development of a new metro line stretching from Ataba through Imbaba and ending in Bulaq Al-Dakrur, said NAT.
