Egypt posts 17% rise in tourist arrivals in 2012

Egyptian tourism minister Hisham Zaazou has said some 10.5 million tourists have visited the country in the first 11 months of 2012, up 17% over the same period last year, Ahram has reported. The sector generated around $9.4bn this year, a slight rise over the $9bn recorded in the previous year, he said. However, the figures are still well below the $12.5bn the sector generated in 2010, he noted.
