Egypt tax revenues grow 20% in H1 2012/13

Egyptian finance ministry has said the national tax revenue rose to EGP98bn in the first half of the 2012/13 financial year from EGP79bn in the first half of the previous financial year, Ahram has reported. "Revenue is expected to increase in coming months, especially in March and April when citizens will file their taxes," said Mamdouh Omar, head of Egypt's Income Tax Authority. Tax revenue currently represents roughly 70% of Egypt's overall state revenue.
