- PRESS RELEASE
The Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) has extended the deadline for submissions to its DubaiSat-2 logo competition to February 15, 2013. The new deadline will enable greater participation as most students have been on a mid-academic year holiday.
"Considering that the logo competition is aimed at the student community, we want to make sure that the opportunity to take part in the contest is available to all students. The competition offers an excellent platform to involve young people in EIAST's mission and take pride in Dubai's achievements," said Abdulla Al Qemzi Head of Media and External Communications at EIAST.
Through the competition, EIAST seeks to gain a logo that portrays DubaiSat-2, Dubai, and the Emirati culture. The competition is being organized in five groups, based on age categories ranging from 5 years to 25 years and above. In addition to the main prize, top designs in each age category will be awarded Dhs500. Entries are accepted free of charge.
Apart from being prominently displayed on DubaiSat-2, the winning logo will be featured on all material related to the satellite mission, including mission patches, online and print content and promotional material.
The DubaiSat-2 project is a joint development program between EIAST and the Satrec Initiative of South Korea, in which 16 UAE engineers have been working on the design, development, testing and manufacturing of the satellite.
