Electronic Health Solutions holds media roundtable

Electronic Health Solutions 'EHS' held a media roundtable on Sunday 16th at Sheraton Amman Hotel to update the media on the latest developments of Jordan's first national e-Health initiative Hakeem, and to introduce the short and long term plans of the programme.

The media roundtable was held by EHS- Chairman Dr. Rami Farraj, Chief Executive Officer Eng. Rami Adwan and Prince Hamzah Hospital General Manager Dr. Ali Hiyasat.

The event covered the company's current projects developments, as Hakeem programme is currently being implemented at Prince Hussein Bin Abdulla II Hospital, Ain Al Basha comprehensive clinic, King Hussein Cancer Center, and Queen Rania Hospital for Children.

The event also covered the developments of the programme including new features such as 'the speech recognition system', this feature has been implemented at Prince Hamzah Hospital to help accelerate workflow and create and turn around diagnostic imaging interpretations faster than ever before, in addition to acquiring a patient billing system and assessing the most efficient method to implement a billing and inventory management system.

The media event also covered the company's corporate development strategies and future plans, as Hakeem Programme aims for a nationwide implementation covering 45 hospitals and 85 clinics in the public health sector over the next seven years.

And In this context, Hakeem recently signed a Memorandum Of Understanding and Cooperation with the Ministry of Health in addition to finalizing the instructions for using the electronic file and prescription in the Ministry of Health hospitals.

This is based on the temporary Law of Electronic Transactions number (85) for the year 2001. Hakeem is currently working on the process of completing the regulatory approvals from relevant authorities that include Jordan Audit Bureau, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Ministry of Finance, instructions will be issued in the near future.

Electronic Health Solutions CEO Eng. Rami Adwan gave a brief about the company and the main benefits of Hakeem programme with facts and figures about the health sector in Jordan, he also emphasized that achieving the goals of a nationwide implementation of Hakeem programme will reflect positively on patients' experience in hospitals and clinics, reduce cost and Improve safety, quality of care and better management of chronic diseases, to enhance the quality and efficiency of health care offerings to reach the highest international standards.

Hakeem will also create a comprehensive patient database to support research and scientific studies by providing necessary statistics to support the decision-making process and the development of health policies.

Eng. Adwan confirmed that the company's current and future approach focuses on achieving His Majesty King Abdullah II, call for a nationwide roll-out by implementing Hakeem programme across the kingdom.

During the media roundtable, Electronic Health Solutions announced the launch of the company's second initiative The Electronic Medical Library.

This initiative aims to establish a national electronic medical library that provides quick and easy access to a large number of an up to medical electronic books and journals, to enrich the medical research in Jordan, guarantee equal access to medical information among doctors, and to implement a new approach in accessing medical information electronically to meet the constant change in medicine, and to reduce the cost of purchasing large quantities of medial books and magazines that are no longer used by the medical staff.

'Hakeem' programme represents the first national e-Health initiative in Jordan and the company's first initiative. Electronic Health Solutions 'EHS' is a non-profit, innovative, technology-driven company.

EHS is a partnership between the Kingdom's main healthcare stakeholders: Ministry of Health, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Royal Medical Services, King Hussein Cancer Center, King Hussein Institute for Cancer and Biotechnology, Royal Health Awareness Society and the Private Hospitals Association.
