- PRESS RELEASE
Following a highly successful participation at the Abu Dhabi Tawdheef job fair 2013, Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) continues its drive to fill 154% more targeted vacancies at Careers UAE 2013 and Fujairah Career Fair 2013 for its rapidly developing Phase II expansion - due for completion on 2014 year end.
With the EMAL core value of 'investing in today for the benefit of tomorrow', the smelter maintains a robust Emiratisation programme utilising multiple initiatives to ensure a growing skilled UAE national workforce for the future. Non-supervisory positions are available for Emirati males holding high school or Institutes of Applied Technology (IAT) certificates and are eligible to apply for the Pre-Employment Courses (PEC) that trains candidates for non-supervisory positions at EMAL. Lasting between 6 and 24 months, the PEC courses will prepare trainees for jobs as Utility Operators, Technicians and Assistant Technicians across all EMAL Operation departments, including casthouse, carbon, maintenance or power.
In 2012, EMAL successfully launched and implemented six training programs for Emiratis to qualify and assign them to work in different fields in operation. However, during the first quarter of 2013, two additional training programs have been added and five more in realization phase.
The 1st quarter of 2013 has also seen early success in preparing UAE nationals for their roles in EMAL. 22 employees out of 90 planned for supervisory roles have completed their training; seven out of 17 employees to be assigned for executive roles have concluded their programs, in addition to 42 out of 138 of our employees designated for technical roles.
At the supervisory level, positions are available for fresh university graduates in the field of mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering to join EMAL's graduate training programme for 15 - 18 months and then, graduating to hold prominent positions at EMAL.
Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, President and CEO of EMAL said: "We are proud of the role we play in supporting the diversification of the economy. Emirati talent is a central feature of how we have come so far, so quickly and a highly qualified and skilled Emirati workforce is essential for our future success. We passionately believe in effective and continuous development, retention and high growth of our human capital and will continue to provide multiple opportunities to potential employees to fill the positions we have available. We ensure that EMAL employees receive world class opportunities to advance in their careers through on and off the job training, as we advance towards becoming one of the world's largest single site aluminium smelters."
Abdelhakeem Almushtaghil, Vice President, Human Relations and Organization Effectiveness, EMAL SAID: "As part of our vision to be the employer of the choice in the UAE, we attract and retain the very best talent. The EMAL Falah Competency Development Program was established to develop Emiratis capabilities and draw their career path at all levels in EMAL.
