Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Aluminium Co (Emal) has said the Dhs16.52bn second phase of its smelter is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2014, Zawya Dow Jones has reported. The expansion will increase Emal's production up to the capacity levels of 1.3 million tonnes, Saeed Al Mazroui, Emal's chief executive, said. "The demand on our product is high, but we won't increase our production next year since we've reached our maximum production capacity two months ago," he said. The smelter has produced 1.5 million metric tonnes of the metal since it started operations in December 2009.
