Emirates eyes Africa for growth
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, September 16 - 2012 at 09:32
Emirates Airline's senior vice president of commercial operations for Africa, Jean Luc Grillet has said the Dubai-based carrier is seeking to expand its presence in the continent to tap opportunities in African market, reported Standard Digital. "While many regions are experiencing challenging economic conditions, Africa - with a population in excess of one billion and rich in natural resources - is one of the few areas to record growth," said Grillet. During the financial year 2011-2012, Africa contributed Dhs6.13bn in revenue, or around 10% of the airline's total annual revenue and representing 9.5% growth over the previous year, he said.
