In addition, the campaign also saw Dhs744,000 worth of cash back awarded to 744 winners, and iPads worth 124,000 which were given to 62 daily winners.
"Emirates NBD has been at the forefront of driving retail cards usage in the UAE, with the objective to encourage the move from a cash-based economy to a card-based one," said Suvo Sarkar, General Manager Retail Banking, Emirates NBD.
"The SWIPE2WIN campaign was part of Emirates NBD's efforts in this direction and succeeded in boosting credit card spends by incentivizing customers to use credit card instead of cash," he added.
The campaign offered 12 hourly prizes every day with Dhs1000 cash-back offered to one winner each hour. Winners were chosen based on a lucky draw, subject to spending a minimum of Dhs100 cumulative spend in that hour. Every Dhs100 spent entitled the customer an additional entry into the draw. In addition, one daily winner of an iPad was announced during the promotion period, with the winners being selected on the basis of the highest cumulative spends each day.
The Mega Prize of 1 kilo gold was announced at the end of the promotion period. All customers who had spent a minimum cumulative amount of Dhs20,000 during the promotion period qualified for the draw for the mega prize. Each Dhs20,000 spent entitled an additional entry to the draw.
Emirates NBD recorded significant jump in credit card spends during the period of the SWIPE2WIN campaign, which was promoted through regular advertisements released in various media, including print, radio, and digital media.
