Emirates secures higher Indian market share than Air India

According to official data released by India's civil aviation authorities, Emirates Airline has carried more international travellers in and out of India than Air India in 2011-12, Business Standard has reported. While the Dubai-based carrier secured 13.04% of the total market share of India, flying 4,532,000 passengers in and out of the country in 2011-12, Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express jointly carried 4,138,000 passengers, or 11.91%, the data showed. Qatar Airways and Air Arabia came in second and third places, with 4.41% and 4.31%, respectively.
