Emirates Steel set to inaugurate phase II of expansion programme

Emirates Steel has said the completion of Phase 2 of its expansion programme is to be officially inaugurated next Wednesday, Wam has reported. The first phase, which had been completed in June 2009 at a total cost of $816m, has increased the rolling output capacity from 750,000 tonnes to 2.1 million tonnes. The company, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corp (ADBIC), plans to increase its production to around 6.5 million tonnes per annum within the next four years.
