Ericsson wins award for key achievements in ICT Industry

Ericsson was recognized for its innovative services and solutions, and key achievements at the CommsMEA 2012 awards which took place in Dubai and was attended by key players in the region's telecom industry.
"We are pleased to receive this award which recognizes our achievements in the African continent. Ericsson's leadership has extended far beyond the telecom market and now embraces the whole ICT industry with innovative end-to-end mobile communications solutions and services. Our vision of a Networked Society where people in this region, businesses and devices are connected, represents our determined objective to help build this region's truly connected society," he added.
The CommsMEA Awards, at which Ericsson won the award for 'African Vendor of the Year,' were divided into four main categories, with the first section recognizing innovative services and applications; the second focusing on specific aspects of operators' businesses, and the third looking at progress achieved by operators in their entirety. The last category aims to recognize operators and individuals that have demonstrated a level of commitment to the sector beyond the call of duty.
Ericsson has a long history in the region, having installed its first telephone exchange in Egypt in 1897, in Alexandria. Ericsson has also worked closely with partners in the industry to bring the benefits of connectivity to education; The Company's most recent initiative entitled, Connect To Learn, was recently launched in the Arab World.
